Ashmore Farms is located 10 km east of Lindsay, Ontario, Canada. Situated in east central Ontario, the area called the Kawartha Lakes is famous for its many lakes and small rural communities. We are located in the former Township of Emily in the municipality of the City of Kawartha Lakes. Our three farms are located on Kings Wharf Road. Our home farm is pictured and we have two farms west of our home farm. The farm consists of 300 acres of owned land and 600 acres of rented land. Other properties are farmed in Verulam and Ops townships.

Crops grown are hay, grain corn, silage corn, oats and barley. Pasturing is practiced as much as possible from May to September with silage and grain supplementation. Pastures consist of fescues, orchard grass, canary grass, crown vetch, trefoil and white clover. Pasture improvement on the farm includes such aspects as rejuvenation, renovation, frost seeding and fertilizing. All soils are soil tested and fertilizer is applied when required at recommended levels. Our farm is on the Otonabee soil plain which closely borders on Emily Loam. The soil is a luvisolic clay, has a BT horizon and a ph of 7.8 There are 175 acres of systematically tiled land on three of the farms. Conventional and conservational tillage practices are used.
